Therefore, it is generally considered as a home to 25 of China's 56 ethnic groups.
Torch Festival of the Yi People in Dali
In 1999, we went to Yunnan Province(雲南省), China. Yunnan, literally known as “South of the clouds” is situated in a mountainous area with high elevations in China. Its capital city is Kunming(昆明).
Its neighbouring countries are Myanmar(Burma),Laos and Vietnam. It is a province well-known for its multi-ethnic minorities in China. Ethnic minorities in Yunnan account for about 34% of its total population of 4 billions. Major ethnic groups include Yi(彝族), Bai(白族), Hani(哈尼族), Zhuang(壯族). Dai (傣族)and Miao(苗族). In actual fact, it is generally considered as a home to 25 of China's 56 ethnic groups. We visited the villages of these ethnic groups . We wore their traditional costumes and watched their folk dances and listening to their traditional music. We spent 6 day’s journey to cover the tour including Kunming(昆明), Dali (大理) and Lijiang (麗江).
