We visited West Lake(西湖)three times. The scenery there was always so charming and beautiful. No matter how you looked at it or viewing from which angles, it was a very beautiful lake.

Situated in Hangzhou(杭州), the capital of Zhejiang Province(浙江省), the fresh water lake is divided into 3 facinating tourist spots, namely Su Ti(蘇堤),Bai Ti(白堤)and Yanggong Ti(楊公堤). Besides, there are numerous temples, pagodas, gardens  and artificial islands within the lake. The 3 artificial island are "Xiao Ying Zhou" (小瀛洲), "Hu Xin Ting" (湖心亭), "Ruan Gong Dun" (阮公墩), lie in the center of the lake.

Generally speaking, the whole scenery of West Lake can be summed up as  "one hill, two causeways, three islands, and five lakes"(一山, 二堤, 三島, 五湖).

West Lake is not only famous for its picturesque landscape, it is also associated with many scholars, national heroes and revolutionary martyrs, thus embracing many aspects of Chinese Culture. In addition, there are two well-known love stories happened here. The legend of the White Snake(白蛇傳) and the Love of the two Butterflies(梁山泊與祝英台). The latter one is similiar to the love story of  Romeo and Juliet in the West.

Here is an excerpt of the famous poem written by Su Dongpo(蘇東坡) of Song Dynasty(宋朝) about the West Lake:

Ripping water shimmering on sunny day, 水光澰艷晴方好,
Misty mountains shrouded the rain.     山色空濛雨亦奇.
Plain or gaily decked out like Xizi,   欲把西湖比西子,
West Lake is always alluring.          淡妝濃抹總相宜
